Ring Pomel Sword

This is a sword built back in high school. It was ground from a bar of mild steel using a bench grinder, then draw filed and sanded. The hilt is assembled in a rather unconventional fashion in that the hollow pommel (a piece of pipe) is attached by two small plates which are riveted to the wide protruding end of the tang. The grip is made in one piece from oak heartwood. While originally sharp this sword has been blunted for use as dress and practice sword. The sheath is of canvas.
